Introduction
Hello, I am Amy Guo, Films Application Manager, Greater China for high-performance hardcoated films for the automotive and industrial product range at MacDermid Enthone Industrial Solutions. My main responsibility is supporting our applicator customers. Strong working relationships are crucial as this allows us to understand customers’ requirements so we can tailor our recommendations and advice from feasibility drawings to quality control and process improvement to failure analysis for example. In addition, I work with my automotive OEM and Tier 1 colleagues, supporting design and performance requirements with our XtraForm Process (FIM with UV curing).
My current role also includes management of the quality performance system (QPS) XMAPP which is designed and tailored for our automotive films range. XMAPP is one of our company QPS programs developed to validate and monitor applicator processes worldwide. The program ensures XMAPP applicators consistently meet pre-defined QPS standards and agreed technical requirements, the QPS standards comply with the conditions set forth in ISO 9001:2015.
My time at MacDermid Enthone
I began working within the MacDermid Enthone group, including legacy Autotype, in 2006. I joined Autotype as Technical Engineer, managing the Research & Development team overseeing the Autotype screen-printing range of chemistry stencil products and cleaning chemicals for screen printing. The scope of the team was to work on new product development and manage product quality performance. I was also involved in product manufacturing and quality control of production at Suzhou plant.
From 2015 to 2018, I moved into a sales role, Screen Sales Manager for Greater China for the screen product range. The depth of knowledge gained was invaluable as Autotype screen chemistry has over a 150-year history.
My latest move is into my current role, Films Application Manager for Greater China, based in Suzhou. The role requires close collaboration with our customers and my global network of colleagues, as we work together to develop solutions for the latest technical performance requirements and next-generation technologies.
My employment at MacDermid Enthone has given me the chance to work with colleagues from a range of disciplines, located across the globe with many years of experience. The variety keeps me on my toes, I am ready for the challenges and excitement ahead.
The changing automotive landscape brings many opportunities
Consumers are now expecting enhanced user experiences and capabilities within their cars, and we are seeing a modification in design and functionality requirements from automotive OEMs. In China, we see the desire for increased displays, touch screens and ambient lighting.
Trends suggest a dashboard having a continuous surface that is harmonized with the interior livery with embedded touch screens and displays often lit only on demand. Trends also indicate enhanced functionality and smart lighting extending to footwells, doors and roof interiors. As a result of this, OEMs are looking at incorporating interior ambient lighting as a means of brand differentiation. As well as using lighting to communicate information and entertainment.
Unrivaled support
As the shift in car interiors continues, I am confident with our long history of supplying innovative films into the automotive industry, we can continue to provide design and technical support services. Our unrivaled knowledge of both design and process capabilities, proven long-standing experience in FIM and our industry leading XMAPP program will enable our customers to get their design right first time, reducing development time and costs.
My team and I look forward to the exciting future ahead as we help drive next-generation solutions to enable success with proven raw materials and expertise.
